This month's article suggests a way to deal with a tendency to overwork where someone has a fear of not achieving their goals. If you know how to do EFT at a simple level or more try the following setups to start to ease the fears about not doing so much.
While tapping the karate chop spot on either hand, repeat these phrases out loud, or change the words to fit your exact situation. If you need a reminder of the EFT tapping points please download this pdf file. It also provides a reminder of how to do EFT.
"Even though it feels wrong to not push myself so much I wonder if I can right the balance?"
"Even though I'm scared that if I let up on the pressure on myself I won't get there I love and accept myself"
"Even though I'm fearful about missing my golden opportunity if I let up now I choose to look further into what's behind this fear."
I have indicated where to tap while saying each of the phrases below. You may repeat this round more than once if you wish.
***These phrases focus on tapping out the problem***
1st Round
Head: "I have to keep pushing myself"
Eyebrow: "That’s the way I’ve succeeded so far"
Side of Eye: "This fear has driven me for many years"
Under Eye: "And I have so many things I must do every day"
Nose: "What if I miss a golden opportunity by not doing all those things?"
Chin: "I absolutely must do all my work – even the things that I know aren’t particularly important"
Collarbone: "This fear has egged me on all these years"
Under Arm: "To ensure that I keep hold of my golden goose"
Ribs: "So how can I change my habits?"
2nd Round
Head: "What if my work has kept me distracted from the real progress I can make?"
Eyebrow: "I keep myself so engrossed that I don’t see the wood for the trees"
Side of Eye: "What if I could just pause long enough to reassess the situation"
Under Eye: "Then I could take stock of the situation"
Nose: "I know this fear keeps me chained to my work"
Chin: "But maybe I can deal with whatever fear is lurking there"
Collarbone: "If I could just pause then I could figure out what’s having me running round in circles"
Under Arm: "Maybe I can then take practical action to resolve the problem"
Ribs: "And what if there are better opportunities available out there that I’m not able to discover because I’ve always got my head down?"
If any negative thoughts or feelings remain about believing in your own affirmations use your own words to neutralise them until they are gone. Then move on to the positive.
***These phrases bring in a positive focus on the solution***
Head: "Maybe by removing this fear I could be more practical and measured"
Eyebrow: "And get more out of my time"
Side of Eye: "I like that thought"
Under Eye: "I’d like more balance to my life"
Nose: "And a growing sense of peace"
Chin: "So that I can enjoy the pretty view"
Collarbone: "That I’ve been cultivating in my life"
Under Arm: "Bringing more balance into my life"
Ribs: "And bringing in more peace"
