This month's article discusses how an event that hurt us badly in the past can block our way forward. If you'd like help in starting to neutralise the effects of that event and the way it limits you in your thinking and actions now, try the setups below.
While tapping the karate chop spot on either hand, repeat these phrases out loud, or change the words to fit your exact situation. If you need a reminder of the EFT tapping points please download this pdf file. It also provides a reminder of how to do EFT.
"Even though there's a painful tightness somewhere in my body when I think about that past hurt, I love and accept myself "
"Even though I've done my best to gingerly tip toe round this event but it's still slowing me down like a ball and chain attached to my foot, I love and accept myself "
"Even though I know that I felt very hurt at the time and I don't want to repeat that mistake again, I love and accept myself "
I have indicated where to tap while saying each of the phrases below. You may repeat this round more than once if you wish.
***These phrases focus on tapping out the problem***
1st Round
Head: "This painful tightness when I think of that time "
Eyebrow: "It sure messed up my life "
Side of Eye: "My muscles have held themselves tight to protect me "
Under Eye: "I thought defence was my only strategy "
Nose: "This tightness in this particular part of my body "
Chin: "I don't ever want to be hurt like that again "
Collarbone: "I thought I had to hold myself tight in order to keep myself safe "
Under Arm: "But what if this ball and chain have been slowing me down too much? "
Ribs: "What if my tactic is sabotaging my efforts to improve my life? "
2nd Round
Head: "I know I felt a lot of pain about that event "
Eyebrow: "Maybe it came up in my life so that I could learn from it and then move on "
Side of Eye: "If I've learnt from it do I need to hold myself stiff? "
Under Eye: "What if I could heal the specific memories about that time . . . "
Nose: "By tapping on this aspect with EFT "
Chin: "And then free myself to pursue my goal? "
Collarbone: "What if I don't have to live with the pain of rejection and humiliation that came up then? "
Under Arm: "Maybe I can heal myself to stop that event from holding me back "
Ribs: "Maybe I can do that "
Tap on specific negative elements to the event that stand out in your mind. To be successful at 'omitting' that event's hold on you it's important to cut the remaining emotional ties you feel. If you're finding this hard to do by yourself please get help from a trained practitioner. After you feel that you have put that event completely behind tap on the following positives to help ground in the change.

Head: "I know that I have cleared a big event from my life "
Eyebrow: "It's there in my memory "
Side of Eye: "But it doesn't have the same power over me as before "
Under Eye: "I am glad to have taken this life-affirming choice to clear it "
Nose: "I choose joyful life over pain "
Chin: "I'm grateful to be free of that hurt from that event "
Collarbone: "I like this new empowered feeling "
Under Arm: "Now I can think of my goals with more focus and clarity "
Ribs: "I'm looking forward to achieving them more easily "
